Ideas Should Converge, Not Fork
The purpose of knowledge systems should be to build consensus and shared understanding, not to create an ever-growing number of competing versions.
What assumption do you disagree with?
I disagree with the assumption that branching is inherently beneficial.
While forks can encourage experimentation, excessive branching can also fragment knowledge and make it harder to identify reliable conclusions.
Many successful knowledge systems, including science, law, and education, ultimately seek convergence around stronger explanations rather than permanent divergence.
What conclusion is different?
Knowledge systems should prioritize mechanisms that help ideas converge toward shared understanding rather than encouraging continuous branching.
